Showers of Blessings

This past week was a little whirl wind for our family, so I was unable to get the last week’s blog out. We got word that Vernon’s mother in Korea was very sick and in the hospital and was asking for us to come. If you know anything about airline tickets to Korea, you know they are not cheap. However we felt the need to go and be there for mommy. She will be 93 in October this might be the last chance we have to see her. So we started praying because at such short notice we had no idea where the money was coming from. The one thing we were sure about, if God wanted us there He would make away.

Praise God with the help of friends who gave good advice on where and when to go online for cheap tickets, we were able to get tickets for under $1,000.00 per person, and we were able to get the tickets for the day we wanted. Now we needed spending money for the trip. Not to buy souvenirs and stuff but for housing, food and transportation.

We posted for prayer on Facebook and told friends and family to pray for a blessing for this trip. All I can say is when you have no place to turn but to the Lord, He pours out the blessings. In one day we received $450.00 enough to pay for housing. Vernon and I were very humbled. What love from friends, and what a blessing from our Lord.

This past Sabbath Vernon and I spoke at the Lobelville SDA Church in Lobelville TN. What a blessing it was to share our testimonies with them. They received us with such love and compassion. The free will offering that was taken up was truly a rich blessing from God. It gave us what we need to complete the funds for this trip and some over to put aside. When we give it all to Him, the blessing is always more than we ask for.

The hymn Showers of Blessing is echoing through my mind:

There shall be showers of blessing:

This is the promise of love;

There shall be seasons refreshing,

Sent from the Savior above.

There shall be showers of blessing,

Precious reviving again;

Over the hills and the valleys,

Sound of abundance of rain.

There shall be showers of blessing;

Send them upon us, O Lord;

Grant to us now a refreshing,

Come, and now honor Thy Word.

There shall be showers of blessing:

Oh, that today they might fall,

Now as to God we’re confessing,

Now as on Jesus we call!

Showers of blessing,

Showers of blessing we need:

Mercy-drops round us are falling,

But for the showers we plead.

In Philippians 4:19 God promises to supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and in James 1:17; Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Vernon and I are learning every day that what we have is all from the Lord and it is a privilege to know Him. He has blessed us beyond what we deserve, but we are so grateful.

We leave for Korea on this Tuesday morning. We ask for all to continue to keep us in prayer as we make this long journey. A journey that is possible because of the love of God.
