Are We Ready?
This year Fall decided to bring Winter with it. So like many of you, we’re in a mad dash to be ready for the cold weather. For the past few weeks as we have been preparing our home for winter, it made me think.. How many of us are so diligently preparing for the second coming of Christ?
The cold weather took us by surprise. We weren’t ready. We had not finished the garden beds for the Winter. All the wood had not been cut. And the wood stoves were not ready. We thought we had time.
Concerning the second coming of Jesus, are our days filled with preparation or distraction? Are we taking Luke 19:13 out of context? Are we going about our day occupying with the concerns of the world, instead of our Father’s business? Matthew 24:44 says, Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
This world seems to be in chaos more than ever. If we ever needed the Lord, we sure do need him now!! We should all be feeling a sense of urgency. There is an old hymn that says, Don’t let it be said, Too late, too late.
My concern and prayer for each of us, is that we take heed to the verses in Matthew 24:42-44 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Maranatha!
